Default future ADN RN's

Z said that alot of magnet hospitals (hers included, MD ANDERSON CANCER CENTER) are no longer hiring ADN RNs straight outta school.

her friend (failed outta PVAMU BSN prog.) and other recent Lonestar college ADN RN grad. , in these hard times they are all having a hard time finidng jobs. remember they grad. last month. Z on the other hand w/ her BSN had a job 2 mos BEFORE she grad. (1.5yrs ago) and yes current economy is part of the reason. but she's been telling me for a while that new ADN jobs are getting harder and harder to come by. alot of hosp. want either a degree (any degree) along w/ your RN or a striaght BSN.

since we have a few peeps here going for their ADNs, just wanted to give ya'll a heads up.

she says SPANISH speaking RNs are a GOLD MINE!

What's an ADN? Advanced Degree nurse or Associate's Degree?

ahh... we dont have those here. It's either LPN, RN, NP... etc....

Anyone working in an acute care setting has to have a 4 year degree as of 2000.

We have been phasing out the lpns at our hospital. The ones we did have graduated to RN's. funny thing is the 3 that graduated can run circles around most of the rn's we have now, although they did hire a few new ones (to us anyway) and they look like some good ones.
