Default Opinions on new TN law?

You can now carry guns into any establishment serving alcohol. But you are "not allowed" to drink....

And they wonder why handgun permits are up in TN. http://www.wkrn.com/global/story.asp?s=10482569

I'm fine with it, i rather have a law abiding citizen in a restaurant armed, then have the law abiding citizens unarmed and some whack job who has no permit, isn't allowed to own a gun, and he is the only one that is armed.

What if you check your guns at the door? Can you drink then?

I envision an awful lot of police outside of bars, checking people for guns and intoxication.

Then when the skinny little ballerina girl starts tossing grown men around the room, you won't be able to get to your gun in time to stop her.

no, a restaurant won't do that, you aren't allowed to be drunk and carry either, so you would be breaking the law when leaving the bar.

This is Tennessee, not Canada. The cops actually respect our right to carry firearms unlike most places.

Well the joke is on you. That sort of behaviour by police has already been ruled unconstitutional and 'restraint of trade' here in Canada.

I keep hoping they'll pass a law like that in South Carolina. Here, you can't take a legal concealed firearm into any establishment selling liquor for consumption... so if I go out to a restaurant, I have to leave my gun in the car. Which of course makes it a lot more likely to be stolen than if I kept it on my person, and can be difficult to do discreetly when parking in a crowded area. It's a real pain in the ass.

Since I don't drink when I'm out, I'm fine with that provision.
