Default New beginnings.

Well, I did it. I finally got myself an AGR (active Guard reserve for you civilian folk) job.

The plus - better pay, better bennies, shorter time till retirement.
The downs - I have to take a demotion to E-5 (crazy how I can take a demotion and make more money huh) and I have to move.

So it's on to packing up the house to get it on the market!

Added bonus, wife already got a job offer at the new location, and will also be making more money, with the disadvantage of having to work some weekends.

As one AGR to another... congrats, its a hard program to get into but generally the day to day work is easier than the majority of the rest of the military does.

As far as the demotion, its not a bad thing, especially since your first board you will go there with a few NCOERs as a staff, and as long as they are decent it works out in your favor big time.

Any clue where you are going? Also if you are going to move, do it yourself, if you are smart about the way you do it, you could walk away with quite a few $$$. They pay 90% of what it would cost them to do a contract. My last one, I walked away with an extra $3k in my pocket plus I didn't even get close to my max weight, if you want let me know and I'll give you any tips on how to get more.

Job is at Camp Grafton, (Devils Lake) ND
I'll probably be moving back to the family farm or close to it, and commute (about 45 miles each way)

Thanks derf. The work should be similar to what I'm doing now as a federal tech, just better pay. And I'm not too worried about getting the rank back, just a matter of putting in my time.

I just got my PCS packet, and luckily they are considering me an E-6 for the move, so I get more cash, and more weight. I will max the weight with out a problem...
I will always take tips to get more cash though! Send 'em on!
