Psst... it's grammar.

I started a thread on another forum I'm on about one of my pet peeves... It's 'lose weight', not 'loose'. Apparently I struck a nerve. The thread is now 22 pages long!

You should see some of the shit I get. My company is global, so every day I see poorly worded and badly translated quotes from a half dozen languages. Several of our regional sales managers are of Germanic background, and many of my projects are shipping to countries halfway around the world. So I might have an original quote written by the German owner's son, based on emails from a Swiss regional manager to a Thai representative in Korea. Or a intermediary's purchase order based on a quote from a Polish representative's emails with the Chinese parent company of a Turkish test facility.

I could make a killing proofing these papers. Even worse, the sales folder I work from often has several copies of the same quote with minute details revised, and some of the grammar/language errors corrected, and none of the corrections make it into the next revision!! And as a bonus, most of the engineering details I require are left unfinished, or completely omitted, or float in some bizarre aether or limbo.

Where I work we have alot of different cultures working for us. Most of them speak and write better English than the Americans born and raised here. It's pathetic!

Could you please send some of them to us?
My industry apparently hires a lot of engineers and developers who cannot speak understandable English even under extreme duress.

I refuse to do business with an organization that has glaring spelling or grammar errors in its publications, advertisements, or website. If they can't get their own shit right, I definitely can't trust them with my money.
