it seems odd that those who do not own, nor wish to own a gun, will never accept that a legally purchased/owned and carried gun could ever do anything good.
yet those who do own guns don't say anything bad about those who choose not to.
please feel free to excercise your right to not own a gun while at the same time please respect my rights to own said gun.

He turned fast pulled his weapon and started shooting. 3 against 1 as in 3 people and 3 guns VS 1 person and 1 gun. The one thug that got him was using a .32 handgun with full metal jacket practice rounds. Had it been hollow points (which are a little harder to find and more $$$) for a .32 cal it would have been a different story. Thankfully most street thugs are cheap.

He was carrying his glock .40 and managed to get off 5 shots.

Yes he was shot 4 times but is still alive. Someone with a gun to my head telling me they will kill me I think I would believe them armed or not.
Still sounds like a lot of luck to me.

I don't carry as often as I'd like due to being in uniform a majority of the time. it is always in the pickup though.

Could be. Could also be that it's lucky he did something otherwise they would have killed him while he was standing there trying to be acquiescent. That's the problem with a situation like this, you never know what would have happened in the alternative.

I don't carry and have never bothered to get a CCW permit. Maybe I'll get one in the future but right now I don't want to deal with the responsibility that goes along with carrying.

Carry in my home? I have an apartment and guns are easily accessible BUT the reality is if someone suddenly kicked down my door I wouldn't have time to react. A house would be different.

I try to be practical when I carry. I keep a gun in my car at all times becuase I feel that is the most likely place I would need one. If I'm walking into a grocery store then I see no need for it. Unless I'm in a very bad area.

One odd place I do carry it is when I road bike. I'll put my 44 in the back of my camelback. Especially on this one bike trail called the Silver Comet Trail. It is a 100 mile trail of paved over train tracks. Already there has been a few murders and many robberies. I don't take chances there.

Of couse I"m moving to Illinois where carry is completely banned, even inside your car. But that explains Chicagos very low crime rate.

I usually have my gun nearby me in the living room (nearest the front door and sliding door). Then if I go into the back of the room, I have my other guns. Oh and a 160# dog for said door knocker to contend with. Which if they hurt my dog, I will shot them in the head without thinking twice!

So we at least have one security guy, 2 producers (or producer and director), 1 CGI guy, 1 costume designer and a female in which we promise blow and a big movie career for a topless scene. Add in all the white people and we got a movie set.

Person one - So you are saying I will never be safer with a gun?
Person two - No...what I'm saying is
Person One - Well you just wait until you are walking down the street and the rapist\mugger\ person grabs your child and rubs the bullet into his forehead!!!..
Person two - All I'm saying is that a gun is not....

This "I better have a gun when I walk from room to room in my own home"....or "every time I leave my home" shit is stupid....paranoid.
No Simply prepared. it is moronic to no accept responsibility for ones own protection. Criminals have a word for it. Victim.
