I would really hate to be in an elevator in that thing if the brakes go out... Does that mean you'd hit terminal velocity before reaching the bottom?

On a more serious note - if they do build it, I'd kill to take a photo from the top. Who needs a fisheye lens when you are high enough for the curvature of the earth to make itself plainly apparent?
