Think of how may people must have been screwed over, and are sitting in jail now, because some fucktard took some department "course" on spotting deception, and thinks he knows what's going on. Add this to the arrogance typically displayed by law enforcement, and you have a recipe for disaster.

You can't. You can't convict someone based on a supposed "expert's best guess" either.

...but if you think this fact prevents cops from using these and other techniques to intimidate, harass, pressure, and frame suspects, you're naive.

No, i know its used as an interrogation and intimidation tactic, but I was referring more to your post about innocents sitting in jail as it appeared you were stating it was because of a lie detector test.

I've taken one and it read me completely wrong. I was still pissed about the incident, my face would turn red and my heart would nearly beat out of my chest just thinking about it. Translation: you're lying!

No, they can't be used to convict anybody. But once the jury and/or prosecutor hear a polygraph was failed, everything changes.

Polygraph test results can also be used to obtain search warrants, where you can get in trouble for other stuff
