Default Donations at work

been dodging a potential dicey situation here, not sure if its righ tor wrong but here goes.

Theyre collecting donations for a tech who I prety much had no use for. I have been dodging them for now and hopefully can make it to the end of the week when the money goes in.

Now this guy has a disease that will ultimatley kill him (not that I am realy concerned, but anyway) so I can come off looking like the real scumbag here esp if he is indeed circling the drain. Guess it may be better just not having the cash and laying low

yeah, just use a debit card for everything you need and dodge them when appropriate

I never understood where people get off leaning on workers/co-workers for 'voluntary' donations anyway.
If people are really concerned and want to give, they will, otherwise leave them the fuck alone.

Whether I gave a damn or not, I'd toss in. For something like that, there's no question in my mind. I thought that this was going to be about Girl Scout cookies of school chocolate bars, which I refuse to buy even if it's for the director's kid.

Are the donations for his family?

If not, then fuck him. He can't spend the money if he's dead, right?

I choose what I donate now a days.

There's a billion people that work in our ER. It seems we are always collecting for something. I could easily spend 100 bucks a month on donations. Someone's mother/father/cat died. Someone lost their job. Someone's retiring...

We have a locked drawer with an envelop inside with the persons name on it. If you want to donate, you chuck some money in. Lots of times people collect for different little things and I'll throw in some money for gifts, treats, etc... even if I wont be a apart of the festivities.

With all the parents, I don't buy crap for school fund raisers "just cuz". I hate girl scout cookies. I don't need 30 energy efficient light bulbs. I don't need overpriced Xmas paper, popcorn, citrus fruit, huge blocks of cheese. It's all crap in large quantities. If I have a kid that needs the raise money for things, I am going to make them work for other people. Baby sitting. Snow shoveling. Grass cutting. Sweeping... Child labor. That's what I am talking about.
