Default Any Endurance racers here?

The Cains quest Snowmobile endurance race kicks off this sunday, for the 4th year in a row. A team race, 2000 kilometers through the frozen Labrador bush by snowmobile. As many as 60 teams start, less than 10 per event finish.

www.cainsquest.com

I read in a sled mag that their doing a discovery special on this one too. The 2000 mile Iron Dog, in Alaska, that Sarah Palins husband Todd has won for Arctic Cat four times is also in the making.

A lot of race fans here, thought some might be interested in having a look.

Kewl. I used to do roadracing endurance, 4 -8 hour endurance races. Snowmobiles are a blast but I wonder what toll they take on you physically? I have never ridden one for more than a few hours at a time and that wasn't at a race pace just out sightseeing...

To be honest, snowmobiles are as hard on you as a dirtbike. You get hammered and thrown around steady, and they take a lot of physical input (leaning is more important than on a sportbike even)

2000 kilometers in 20 hours (race time, not total), would be enough to make you very sore for a while after your done. Factor in getting stuck, changing belts on the trail, things like that, and its bound to be one hell of a difficult experience.

not just racing it, but racing it in ice and snow, and temperateures far below freezing with strong winds, through thick brush, and over frozen lakes. I would absolutely love to try it!

I would do it in a heart beat. I love to push my limits and adventure! I lived in Utah for 5 years and just being 20 hours in the elements is a challenge...

The Tesoro Iron Dog in alaska is even crazier. 2000 MILES. And even worse conditions than Cains Quest!

I don't know if I could race the dogs...I mean I have a high mechanical sympathy for my rides and the torture I put them thru...Hi RPM/heat...I don't think I could put that kind of abuse on a furry lovable animal.

haha, the Tesoro Iron Dog is a snowmobile race

The Iditarod Dog Sled Race, run on the same trail as the iron dog, is the race your thinking of
