The dominatrix, the businessman and the diaper: murder conspiracy trial continues

TORONTO — A wealthy businessperson was wearing what appeared to be a diaper or sumo wrestler garb while he was in a dominatrix’s apartment discussing a plot to have his wife killed, court heard Monday.

Alex Petraitis, 68, and dominatrix Sandra Lynn Rinella, 47, have pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit murder and counselling murder.

Kerry Anderson, the supposed would-be hit man and Rinella’s biker ex-boyfriend, has told the court the two accused wanted him to kill Petraitis’ wife.

Anderson has testified he never intended to go through with it, and he secretly recorded conversations he had with the duo.

On one occasion when he arrived at Rinella’s apartment, Anderson testified he found Petraitis wearing an unusual getup.

“He had on socks and he had on something that looked like a toga or a diaper on the lower end and a T-shirt,” Anderson told the court.

Under cross-examination by Joseph Neuberger, Rinella’s lawyer, Anderson agreed the outfit was similar to what a sumo wrestler would wear and that he felt he had walked in at the end of a sado-masochism or domination session.

Neuberger pointed out apparent inconsistencies in Anderson’s evidence. At the preliminary inquiry in 2005 he told the court he thought the whole case was “crazy” because Rinella and Petraitis didn’t want anyone killed.

“That’s not how I feel today,” Anderson replied.

Neuberger also noted Anderson doesn’t “have a particularly good track record of honesty” and that Anderson has roughly 20 convictions on his record.

Rinella and Anderson dated for five years and had a son together. He fed her “raging” cocaine addiction and watched her descent into bizarre behaviour, between 1998 and 1999, Anderson admitted under cross-examination.

Her appearance deteriorated, she would speak languages she didn’t know in her sleep, she would have arguments with herself, kept books on witchcraft and told Anderson she was a practising witch, Neuberger said.

Anderson has testified that Rinella said she was worried she would lose Petraitis as a client if he didn’t carry out the killing.

On Anderson’s tapes, the three are heard discussing details of the alleged plot, including how Petraitis’ wife of 40 years, Kirsten, was to be abducted and killed.

“We’re going to try to really make it look like a kidnapping, are we not?” Petraitis asks.

Anderson agrees and Petraitis says the hit man should push him out of the way and tie him up, to further the appearance of a kidnapping.

“I’m just going to grab her,” Anderson is heard saying on the tape.

“I got a way of putting a person in a sleeper and breaking her neck in a second.”

At one point Anderson asks Petraitis: “Now you really want this done?”

Petraitis replies, “Yep.” And with a laugh Anderson says, “OK, OK, because there’s no turning back.”

Anderson said he was planning to use the tapes either to extort Petraitis for $1 million and a Hummer or send them to Kirsten Petraitis.

He testified last week that Petraitis wanted his wife killed at the couple’s cottage near Buckhorn, Ont., before Christmas.

Anderson told court he initially wanted $25,000 to do the job. But as the months-long cloak and dagger plot progressed, he made repeated demands for and received more cash and money orders. His demands eventually rose to about $120,000.

Jurors heard another tape last week that Anderson said he made secretly. On it, he told Rinella they had decided to dismember Petraitis’ wife’s body.

“We’ll just cut with a chainsaw,” he said, adding the chainsaw was to be buried with the corpse.

There's more information here regarding the second proposed hitman, whose wife was having an affair with a cop. The second hitman was recently found burnt in his car. "Natural causes" is what they say

Oh shit, call the Vatican.

Knowing the unknowable is a sure sign of demonic possession. The girl needs an Exorcist.
