what no one wants to mention this?
for all the wonderful news coming out of Wis lately I figured this would be right there with the rest of it.
SNAP To File Lawsuit Against Pope, Vatican in Milwaukee By Melissa McCrady with Jay Sorgi MILWAUKEE - A group representing sexual abuse victims is filing an unprecedented lawsuit Thursday against the Vatican, a lawsuit that names Pope Benedict XVI. The suit stems from the Fr. Lawrence Murphy sex abuse case. At 12:00 p.m. CDT Thursday, clergy abuse survivors will walk into the Federal Courthouse in Milwaukee and file a lawsuit against the Vatican. They are requesting names of all known priest sex offenders as well as secret documents associated with each case. The lawsuit stems from the case of pedophile priest Fr. Lawrence Murphy which made headlines around the world. He was accused of molesting as many as 200 boys at Saint John's School for the Deaf. Members of SNAP, The Survivors' Network of Those Abused by Priests, insist that then-Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, now Pope Benedict XVI, knew about Murphy's abuse but failed to contact law enforcement or even remove him from priesthood. SNAP members believe top Vatican leaders know about other pedophile priests. Now they are requesting, through an unprecedented lawsuit, names of priest sex offenders and files concerning each case. |

As far as the "secret documents"...I have a feeling the authorities will never see them now.
I've never heard of SNAP but I'm not surprised they are doing this. What a friggen mess. |

Uh, what can a lawsuit here in America do? The Vatican is inside Italy and its own country. I guess the Pope can't go to Wisconsin but who would anyways?

Although I agree that something needs to be done, this lawsuit is more about doing something, than seeing any real results a lawsuit would bring. I'm not sure it's the right way to go about it, but maybe they are lashing out and are just very frustrated.

yeah the funny is, when sex against kid complaints are made the priest is relocated quietly,
this week they made a complaint about a priest telling something he heard in confessional. he was immed suspended. guess it's alright to play with little boys just don't give away secrets. i think they know the suit really does nothing they just want to rail against the current pope. couple weeks ago they went to the Vatican and protested outside. SNAP = survivor network (for those) Abused by Priests or something like that. |
