Default Have you guys heard about this?

A young woman was attacked by coyotes in the cape breton highlands national park (the cabot trail circles it) and died from her injuries. I believe it's the first recorded death by coyotes in canada.

See, if she'd been carrying a firearm this never would have happened.

Still, that's amazing. I've never been afraid of coyotes- I can't fathom a pack desperate or brave enough to try to take on an adult.

hard to say... if they were willing to attack a human... I'd guess they were starving... and she'd have to have killed a couple before they'd take off if that's the case...

I read an account in a hunting magazine where a pack of wolves (yeah I know more aggressive by nature) attacked a guy. he was armed and he killed 4 before the rest (about 5 more) fled... lucky as he only had a round left in his clip...

It wasn't the first recorded death (second I believe) but it's incredibly rare.

Odd thing is I read about this in a UK paper before I heard about it in Canada.

Yeah I heard about this last week. I've never heard of Coyotes attacking...especially killing a human. We have them around here too but usually it's just your cat or small dog you have to worry about.

People in the neighbourhood think I'm nuts for saying it, but I saw one running through our parking lot in Brampton. I don't know why they think we can't have them here if they've been reported in The Beaches, just outside downtown Toronto.
