Apparently he was thinking that it might be a good idea to tie two vehicles together then go in reverse as fast as possible with plenty of slack in the tow line. Seems like a logically good idea really, until you actually try it and start tearing shit off vehicles
Also heard very faintly was the one dude saying "hold my beer and watch this"

Totally logical, imagine what happens when bugs bunny pulls a carpet out from under elmer fudd, that shit totally works when he gives it a quick jerk and fudd goes flying. The quick jerk is what did it.

Pretty smart actually......I mean...if your goal is to get 100k hits on Youtube (which is pretty clear was his goal...THAT and to justify getting that custom front bumper made to his GF/mommy)

While watching that I was imagining what would happen if the trailer hitch lock had failed, instead of the moron's bumper mounts.

Can't confirm the story, but heard it several times from several people To ME it seemed to be as dangerous to just head offroad in a crawler and go 2mph than hit the track at 170

Yeh, Ive hear variations of that story too, also with cables, and just lengths of chain. I always took it as a danger of this sport story because random shit can happen

What an idiot *shakes head*.
Tow cables can be especially dangerous, as can straps. Chains you don't have to really worry about them breaking because they don't build up and store hardly any energy from stretching like a cable or strap will. That kid obviously stopped reading the rules of vehicle recovery before it says... don't use excessive speed with a "jerk strap" (as they're sometimes known) because they work good like that, at 2 mph, not 20mph and excellerating. The next rule he didn't read is...throw a heavy blanket or tarp over the strap in case it breaks or comes loose. *note* A bumper/front frame assembly also works for this though it is more costly than a heavy blanket or tarp. |
