Our CITY has laws they enforce in regards to number of vehicle visible from the street, landscaping, etc. They're punishable by fines. Or they'll come landscape (ie MOW) your yard if you don't respond to the notices then you get a hefty bill in the mail. We had our car cover blow over in a windstorm - the tarp and poles were in the yard for 2 days (until the weekend) and even in just 2 days, we had a notice mailed from the city that we had a certain amount of time to address the 'mess' that was visible from the street or else be fined.

This I DO NOT agree with at all I CHOSE my neighborhood....and I like the structure of the rules....but to have them forced onto everyone in a city or county "just because" someone thinks it's the way EVERYONE should live...thats horse crap!!!

And frankly, I'm in favor of the rules. Our neighbor's been busted multiple times: Between him, his wife, and their inbred son, they must have 8 or 9 dead cars. The city requires them to be out of sight - so now they're piling up in his backyard under tents. Better than me having to look at them.

Parking on the street at night is a common city law. Also some areas prone to fires are required to keep all shrubs/plants/bushes/grass/weeds cut back away from the house. If you don't, they take care of it and send you the bill. Where my in-laws live it's call weed abatement.

I live in an older part of town in a 103-year-old Bungalow with a separate two-car garage. Have a truck, car and two bikes in it. No HOA's or driveways. There's a common alley way down the middle of the block where everyone pulls into their garage, and puts out garbage into dumpsters. On-street parking up front with a grass strip, wide sidewalks, and shade trees.
