Yes...assholes or fly off the cuff people don't change their spots. Regardless of employment.

I'm pretty immune to the emotional appeal nonsense. I'm more interested in the facts.

Vietnam.....
Soldier....
Relatives ...family....blah blah lost someone ....blah blah blah

Irrelevant...

The only thing professional in the Sheriffs response was last line:

"Per your request, I will forward your complaint to the Prosecuting Attorney's Office for his review. "

As for the women, the only thing worth reading is:

"Men that were escorting the procession proceeded to stop in front of me in the right lane on Gravois. I had to stop in the middle of an intersection. They proceeded to scream and yell at me.....

One of them climbed off his motorcycle and came over to me and stuck his head in my car continuing to scream at me."

Though her delivery is painful to read, she has a valid complaint and she is entitled to to pursue the matter.

Had the body in the box been that of a gang banger would this thread had gone differently? Would we be so quick to dismiss the behavior of the motorcyclist sticking his head in a woman's car to yell at her had he been the uncle of an Accountant who jumped out off a bridge because of the market crash?

I am not impressed with the Sheriffs response.

Agree 100%. The facts are only relevant here. Keep emotions out.

What do you expect of the sheriff as far as his "duty to investigate" when the only crime potentially committed is a misdemeanor with no witnesses?

Accountants are terrible investors in the best of days.

The procession had the right of way. She was supposed to stop.

If she'd been paying attention she would have realized that before she got 1/2 way through the intersection.
She was driving in the lane next to the procession. MO law allows you to travel in the next lane obeying the traffic laws. She didn't have to stop. What happened is the motorcycle guy wanted to use HER lane so he could block the intersecting traffic from approaching the moving procession after his light turned red. Understand now?

Its a funeral procession on major roadway where traffic was stopped.
witness...i would think so
Are you saying that misdemeanors are not worthy of investigation?
You should spread the word to departments that have units or detectives specializing in misdemeanor investigation.

Bill, seriously, have you gone stupid?

THERE ARE NO FACTS LITTLE BUDDY!

None. Not a thread of evidence. Just a letter she wrote. Thats far from proof.

I would think that there are witnesses. It appears none of them stepped forward.

I think some misdemeanors are not worthy of investigation, namely misdemeanor drug possession, and I don't use drugs. I would spread the word to departments but they are notoriously bad listeners and I don't want to get tased.

Facts can be found from the evidence. evidence can be gathered from witnesses.

There were likely witnesses being that its a funeral procession and traffic was stopped.

It may or may not jive with the woman's testimony but there is at least the opportunity to see if a crime was actually committed.

My take is that if the sheriff does not want to fulfill his duty in this instance the we should revisit his compensation.

Not according to MO law. If there is another lane alongside the procession, traffic can flow in that lane, esp. on the freeway.
