Don't know about your situation. But weddings are just horrible. Only wedding I ever liked was my cousins wedding. Outdoors, simple, short, and right after the wedding we walked to the picnic shelter and tapped the keg and ate some BBQ sandwiches!

Honestly if someone really cares about their friends they'll say "The wedding is at 7pm at St. Pius Chapel. Meet us at the Reception at 8pm". Your friends will praise you to death for that. Weddings suck.

Go to the wedding but take some Acid, Heroine, or cut your leg off to deal with the pain of being at a wedding.

IMO there is a big difference between going to the wedding of a friend, and going to the wedding of your long-term, live-in girlfriend's sister in which your girlfriend is the maid of honor. I would go to the ceremony of a friend's wedding anyway, but that's just me. But if it were just a friend of ours getting married and he said "let's just go to the reception", that would be a totally different story. But this is my sister.

But I honestly don't understand what the big fucking deal is. If you're going to the reception then just suck it up and sit for a half hour at the ceremony. Just be a nice person and support the couple and your girlfriend. Don't cry about sitting for a half hour before partying for another 5.
