Beautiful!!! I had adopted a former racer years ago - Bullet Train. He was a brindle... looked like a deer.

He was INCREDIBLY smart, would open closet doors and eat left shoes - just the left. Was a wonderful weather barometer, freaked out when a storm was coming. And, didn't need to run - but LOVED to run. I got into a local club that would take them out to an airstrip to open them up. It was fantastic to see them fly....

Bullet didn't care about any dog other than another greyhound, and especially a female. He had a blood disorder, which is what did him in the end.

He was lead trained to the point if you had a string around his neck and dropped it he would be ground tied. And, would pee if you whistled...

Actually they don't eat all that much. My boy eats about 2 1/2 cups of kibble a day. He porks up if he gets more than that.

I vote for rumor. Greyhounds are sturdy animals.
I never had a problem with him off a lead. Strange. Though, I agree with your sentiment about rumor

thanks again

zoom... that would be cool on the running. Had this not happened I was thinking of taking him to an enclosed track at the local school to let him run around. I agree, would be cool to watch being it for fun not real racing. And I agree, the other day watching him limp around was making me sick to my stomach... it sucks

Ok, I have to admit... this thread had me looking at a couple of Texas greyhound rescue pages.
I think most of the purebreds are over the size allowance of my rental agreement, but they sure look like nice dogs.

This has always made me CRAZY - large dogs are not nearly as destructive as small dogs [on average]. I don't get that.
