That came out more cold-blooded than I intended, let me try again.
I think its cool that the cat has the freedom to run around and climb trees and chase squirrels and such...but if she gets ran over I won't really care. Damn, sounds the same eh?

My beef with cats - it's actually with their owners. They all seem to have the attitude you do - UNTIL something happens to their cat.

If I found out someone purposely killed her I'd Dexter them...but you can't blame someone for hitting her with a car. I'll jam on the brakes, but I've trained myself not to swerve to avoid animals.

The cat wouldn't go into a depression like a dog might if you kicked the bucket, is all I was sayin'.
They're just different, much more independent creatures - and not 'hardwired' as a companion like most dogs tend to be. They can be anti-social assholes , or they can be extremely personable & attached to people (or a single person, like Kathy's big tabby who is a total mama's boy) - it's just that it's a matter of choice with them. As for letting them roam - some couldn't care less, and some can't stand to be cooped-up. Tough call, depending on where the owner lives & how badly the cat wants out - but if one decides to let them out, one has to accept that they might not come back someday. |

I'm being too hard on our cat I guess, she serves her purpose. She entertains my PitBull, she kills any and all small creatures/rodents/insects trying to get into our house, and she kept the squirrels from decimating my pecan tree this fall.
Here's my big beef....letting your cat roam and not having them fixed. ARRRRG!!!!!
