If you feel like you're going to need the unemployment go ahead and file, you never know. I was fired for a "Violation of Company Ethics Policy" and "Anger Managment Issues" but was granted full unemployment benefits after my review and hearings.
Totally different states and all, but its worth a shot.

i would agree with this. if they know they wronged you, they may ok the benefits in the hopes you won't sue. now days many people sue. |

As far as I know, in most states you still get unemployment even if fired. The only exception would be the firing was due to intentional misconduct, theft, or crime of some sort.

It always sucks to hear of someone losing their job because of working conditions.... but even moreso when the aggrieved party is a teacher in a much-needed specialty. I worked with younger versions of your students a few years ago, and loved my job dearly. I am so sorry you were put into the situation, but I completely understand your reaction to it. Absolute best of luck in your next adventure!

I'll say something slightly negative, I wish that he wouldn't have let things get so bad that he ended up reacting this way...now he's out of a job and those kids are minus a teacher where there must have been a shortage to begin with. It just seems that there were avenues that he could have explored to get the situation rectified before it had gotten to the boiling point. Having grown up in a bad area, I understand how big a difference having even one teacher that honestly cares for the students is. I haven't gotten that far in life but I know that I wouldn't have even accomplished this without some of the teachers that I've had.
