You have a point bro but I used to live in DC, another cost of living monster, and it's incredible the difference between Grand Rapids, Mi and there. Let me put it in perspective, over 20 years ago, it cost $45/day to stay at the Y, $5-600/month to rent a room and people were making over $10/hr to work at Mc Donalds!

And yes, Groceries do infact cost more...The price of food in general costs more...Some movie theaters by me are one price where another one one town over is another...And when i was in FL in Jan...I paid for THREE People and paid 18 dollars....That doesnt even get me TWO people here in jersey.

Dont even get me started on if your a smoker...NYC is like 13 a pack now IIRC for The name brand Ciggs.

and considering that "actual" new jersey is pretty much 1950's shitville. all that cost of living/tax BS is again fucking new york's fault with a small bit of philly added on.

"Petro, who earns $61,000 a year, also wrote that a co-worker had warned her that some of her colleagues were beginning to Google her....."

Yeah Petro was searching if she still was givin 35 dollar blow jobs.

I don't see an issue with it, esp. in the caliber of school we are talking about. I bet the parents that are complaining have kids that are doing shit they don't know about.

How am I smoking something? The cost of living in NY isn't 5, 4, or even 3 times as high as the US average. Period. It might be twice as high, but that's about it.

OK the rent might be 3 times as much, but all the other necessities of life, like gas, groceries, utlities, cable, are probably only like 10-50% higher. And things like cars, clothing and electronics probably aren't any higher at all.

LOL, scraping by? Like Pauldun said, a single person can easily survive on $60K there. They won't be able to own a BMW or Armani wardrobe, but they can easily have their own apartment, feed themselves, dress appropriately, and even go out from time to time. Try doing all of that on the $12K you mentioned earlier.
