Its coming...
State legislators in Rhode Island and Maine will announce bills tomorrow to legalize recreational marijuana, a spokesperson for the Marijuana Policy Project announced today. Rhode Island Rep. Edith Ajello and Maine Rep. Diane Russell will hold a conference call tomorrow with the Marijuana Policy Project to announce the legislation. MPP says that "similar proposals will be submitted in at least two other states — Vermont and Massachusetts." A ballot iniative legalizing medical marijuana passed in Massachusetts last week with more than 60 percent of the vote. Maine voters voted to expand the state's 1999 medical marijuana law in 2009 to include dispensaries. The Rhode Island legislature passed medical marijuana legislation earlier this year.

We should get a pool going. I actually have a big CF thread about this from a dozen or so years ago I wanted to link to, but I couldn't find it in that barren wasteland of ads.
I'm calling 2 years for Texas.

It'd be nice to think so.
The real question isn't how many states will pass decriminalization measures, but how long it's going to take for the Federal gov't to get the stick out of their ass about it.

I notice it real easily on a bike. Was just going to the dealer the other day, and then stopped by work to approve payroll. My work isn't in the greatest of areas, and immediately as I got off the exit ramp I could smell it from the van infront of me. As I passed I just laughed at them.

my thoughts, I do not smoke have never smoked and have no interest in it...however I definitely think it should be legalized.
I used to do a lot of designated driver...soon got asked to drive a few friends who wanted to go smoke. a sober view point of both drinkers and smokers? I would much rather drive smokers. they are mellow, happy and harmless. drunks well we've all seen them in action. |

I'd rather not be around smokers. They stink, literally, and just like cigarette smokers they are oblivious to it.
The point about 'designated drivers' reminded me that maybe 3-4 times a week I end up behind a car, from which that skunk-like smell emanates. We have laws against having open containers in cars and laws about the amount of alcohol you can have in your system, but testing for THC is problematic. Laws similar to those covering open containers, in vehicles, would have to be instituted. In other words NO weed or hash in the driver's compartment.
