Maryland is a may issue state, but in reality they don't give them out unless you can prove that you need it, security guard, police, reported threats against your life, or carry large sums of cash. They issue less than 1k a year, and the guy in the gun store was telling me that they sometimes hold the application for years.

I can carry in most of the US, just not in the state that I live.

Its just a state mandated waiting period. I also had to buy a MD compliant lock too

On the plus side, it comes with 5 magazines, 2x10 and 3x16, and the guy gave me a $50 discount off the already cheapest in the area price I could find

I don't get the waiting period when they make the call right then and there. I mean, do they wait for a call back, "O hey gun store owner. I forgot to tell ya the guy you're doing the transfer for drove a bus into a school and killed 100 kids. Yea......sorry about that."

Naw, the state police do a background check on me, which takes a week.

Its better than NJ, last time I asked about buying one up there, it was an application for a purchase permit, fingerprinting, application typically takes 60 days, then you have 30 days to buy one, and then you are subject to a 3 day (?) waiting period.

Unacceptable. I go to the gun store, pick the one I want, fill out the form, they call it in, I give them money, and I walk out with a shiny new gun. Wish I had some expendable cash. I haven't bought a firearm in far too long.

Same here, except that I have a CHL which means no calling anything in. I show that, hand over cash, take my shiny new handgun and leave.
