Not in michigan... permit means, no passenger, no nite riding, and have to be in view of a endorsed rider.

Well both bikes are 07/08's so I just cant see how they would be totaled from plastics with the value of them being higher than repairing just plastics.

Can the owner ask for the bike to be totaled?

Depends.

I had a car get wrecked once, it was almost a total loss, but they were going to fix it. I talked directly with the mechanic, explained that no matter how great a job they did, I didnt want a car that was totally rebuilt. He found pieces here and there that need replaced until it was declared a loss and totalled.
