I've been a guitarist for 22 years. The first two people I thought of were Hendrix and Jimmy Page. But BB King is right there with them. Maybe even more so, he just wasnt one of the first two I thought of.

My personal favorite is Edward Van Halen. But If I showed a pic of him to most people 20 years older or younger then me they probably wont know who he is.

Johnny Cash... Hendrix are probably the next two
If you ask adults, most of them know Clapton and Hendrix. If you ask kids, they are going to say some fucking Jonas brother or some emo fag from panic at the disco. I don't think Elvis or Cash would be mentioned a whole bunch if you specifically said guitarist.

If they were raised right, they'd know who they are. I raised mine right. They know who the greats are.

I can't pick just two.

You cant really answer this. There are so many great guitarists. I guess it just depends on the type of music you like. For me, the greats are:

Jimmy Hendrix
Tony Iommi
Jimmy Page
Joe Satriani
Steve Vai
Eddie Van Halen
Michael Angelo Batio
