The 2 of us 8 lunch at 2, then at 8 we 8 dinner.

It's all context.

Then how would you go about spelling words how they sound when there are a multitude of words that sound similar but have vastly different spellings and meanings? If you go with phonetic spelling, then you're making a decision that there's only one spelling for words that sound the same.

If it's just in a product description which is one of hundreds of items that have to kept track of, I'm a bit more forgiving. But please, if you can't accurately word and format the basic information about your company, hire someone who can.
I'm with you. I've always been good with spelling, grammer and such, but after spending so much time on the netz with you guys and falling prey to the text phenom, I am much more lax.

However any publications and work items are ALWAYS in proper form!! It's so embarrassing to see what some of my fellow co-workers send out to my tenants without my prior approval. It makes us all look like fools in the porfessional world. And these people are college educated yet write like 6th graders!

My favorite is when I am hiring a new contractor and it looks like their 5 year old wrote the proposal. Thats confidence inspiring!
