It took more than JFK's leadership to get to the moon. If JFK hadn't been assassinated the project likely would have axed. The reason we went to the moon was because LBJ was able to lever it through (along with some other stuff that wouldn't have happened otherwise) using JFK's body.

Another thing, the phrase is "Our Germans are better than their Germans". They didn't say jack about Canadians.
