I didn't say they were necessary, I said they would prolong the life of the goggles. Mud is very sticky and very scratchy. If you had the choice of with or without, why you you choose without?

I've ridden countless times in all my gear, and the only time I ever needed a second pair of goggles was actually when the liner that touches my face wore out. Even when racing, I never gotten scratches that "ruin" goggles. Certainly not enough for me to need another pair anyway. LOL it sounds like you are a victim of circumstance. If you can't see where you are going, you probably should do yourself the favor of NOT riding there. People have still injured their necks wearing $700 Leatt braces, yet that money spent didn't solve shit. |

This is an ignorant statement. When I broke my kneecap I was on a farm quad doing 30mph through some tall grass and hit a large rock that bucked me off. $20 knee gaurds and good boots or a $10k knee or broken ankles or...

I do try to avoid damaging the exterior, at least as far as scarrin gis concerned. I have no plans to do anything that involves running my face through brambles or trees.

Thanks guys! Took the new toy out this weekend, had a total blast!!
Got super muddy, actually got so muddy it started overheating as the air vents filled with mud. Cleaned her up and took her back out and she ran fine for a bit, but we are going to do a complete overhaul and checkup ASAP to make sure all is good. Had a few lil issues as far as water and mud. Now I know why folks snorkel the darn things. Hubby hit a creek that ended up being several feet deep, flooded it, and some helpful rednecks were gracious enough to help us out and show us what to do in the future (tho we wont be snorkeling and will be staying out of the true water holes). Then I decided to get ballsy and buried mine up to the frame in water and mud, and then again in clay (more helpful, VERY drunk rednecks on that one). I definitely see the benefit in the smaller quads, as even with lil me on it, mine was heavy enough to sink in. It floats too, I found out, but Im not big enough to to the side to side motion to get it through the mud and water. I did manage to get it almost completely vertical, hit some big ruts in the water but I climbed out all on my own! Hubby was laughing so hard he had to stop. Thank heavens for sturdy winches, we now plan on getting one for the hubby as we used mine several times yesterday. He also needs some new tires, looking at the outlaws as they come highly recommended by said rednecks and they showed us just how well they worked too. Got a helmet on order, and got to find some good goggles as I definitely saw the need for them yesterday, sunglasses just dont cut it. As long as we keep to the same riding as yesterday, I dont yet see a need to spend a fortune on gear. My waterproof, kneehigh snakeboots are more protective than riding boots, so I'll stick with those for now. |

Nice, you should get yourself a 250 to play on. Much more fun.

That's if I was talking about an ATV. All the big companies make 250 dirt bikes though.

True, but a dirt bike will not do the mudding that the Chi took part in with her quad.
