At least that's what I'd do if I were VS.

Standard non compete and non disclosure. I doubt there was a whole lot other than that.

I am prety sure that they do that. I recall that they bought out another forum ( I think it was either a yamaha or ducati forum) and they tried to start up another site soon after then VS went after the new site along those lines.

Yep Rez explained it to me when they first offered him the buyout, he would be required to participate on the forum for X number of months with a minimum number of posts by him a week. He would also not be allowed to open up another site that would be in competition with CF. he would also loose complete control over the forum. And then he turned it down. After that, stuff started to get bad and eventually he sold.

There were some folks who when the rumors of the VS buyout started that were talking about starting a forum to bring members to after the fall of CF, one of the sites that was floated (and possibly registered) was cafeforums.com , with the CF highlighted. What wound up happening instead is that a number of people had already been through a VS buyout split right away and migrated with their online social group elsewhere, here, sporttouring.net got a small influx, a few harley sites, some locality based forums, basically wherever.

Our small group in the NY forum stayed put and I think the PNW forum is still rather busy, but thats a lot of guys who dont venture out much and from what I heard they had plenty of their own drama too.

You do realize they use bots to keep their post counts up right? Corvette Forum was taken over by Internet Brands. Within a couple of days we found several bots that had over a million posts. Go back and look. Guaranteed you'll find them.

That was spamming. It seems to peak, shortly after VS announces a take-over.
