Yea well, when it's your bike you can do whatever you want to it... my point is that saying that the bike is "hideous" is a bit much imho. I think it's a decent looking bike, that has a ton of potential. Oh and the after market isn't that bad at all. You have to remember that we're not the only country in the world and the SV1000 was a decent seller for Suzuki elsewhere. OTB bought an SV1k for $1000, after he fixes it, he'll have less than $2k into it. Tail, fairing and exhaust for under $1000... Ta, Da! Heck, I've seen GSXR forks for $100 and shocks for $30... He could have one heck of a bike for $3-4,000.

I'd buy a naked one if I get an SV most likely. Here's a pic of a friend's I used to ride back in the day. After we put those dirtbike handlebars on there, I really liked the style and feel of it.

Edit: Btw, he used to run a 180 rear tire as pictured there. I rode it like that and it seemed to handle fine. He had no issues keeping right with me in the twisties as well.

Well, go to any bike night, and watch what happens when a TLR comes. People start saying "damn, that was my dream bike back in the day......"

Think people are ever going to say that about an SV1000?

Granted, a TLR isn't impressive now....But it was back when it was new. Was the SV1000?

Um the SV just wasn't marketed or made that way... but I would be interested to see a TLR vs SV match up with only a suspension upgrade to GSXR pieces.

most of the quotes i hear are along the lines of that gixxer isint firing on all cylinders 'course if they do know what it is they never shut up about how much the rear suspension sucked ass

I would. I LOVED the SV1k since it first came out... desperately wanted one... I do like the Tiller a lot though... out of the box performance is the only thing that keeps me from selling it and buying the SV1k. In fact, when I bought my Buell I was looking for an SV1k.
