Yeah, slow days suck. I like for the day to go by fast, but don't want to be so swamped that I feel like I still have shit left over to do. I like to be able to get everything done I need to on a particular day, without much "dead time"

I work 35 hours a week.
I get 3 weeks vacation to start, 10 sick days and 4 personal days. I get paid stupid amounts of money, and like Apoc said, it is never enough. One guy I work with has 7 weeks holidays and he always carries them over.

As many sick days as I need, but I may be asked to support that need with documentation. I can go off for short term disability, for 66 days at full pay, come back for one, then go off for another 66 if it's a different reason. Otherwise it becomes LTD (80% pay). I've currently got something like 36 vacation days banked and build them at a rate of 1.66 per month. I'm allowed to bank up to 40, before I start to lose them. It's tough to take them all. Sometimes I'll take a week off and just kick around the house.

9-5 Job
20 days vacation 9-10 holidays 10 days sick I'm old school. I believe that taking sick days reflects poorly on you and I don't think of sick days as something "That I need to take before the end of the year" |

Some places let you use sick days as vacation days. Used to do it at ups but I was also liked by management and they fiured if they had a heads up on I wasnt going to be in it was better than the last minute call

However, since my current employer has decided to close the site this year, my sick time policy has become more liberal. |

In my past jobs I have probably called out sick one time per year, and that was time off without pay because my past jobs were pretty crappy and we didnt get sick days. With my current job I will absolutely use my sick time as part of my vacation time. Its only a benefit if you take advantage of it, besides, in most cases nobody knows what type of hours you used for your time off anyway.

If on the other hand they are totally cool with people using their 10 sick days for a trip to Europe, well that's one company that won't be very competitive with their peers in terms of cost control Last edited by Homeslice; 03-12-2010 at 08:42 PM.. |
