Marketing ploy. That's all.

And if those alleged 'coffins' were such a secret, then 2 guys plus a cameraman would never have been allowed to get that close to them.

Or the "good" sources are just following orders and reporting on what they're told to report on.

Again, to their own detriment.

I don't see how it is to their own detriment. Pretty sure all the top execs and money makers at all the media outlets are extremely rich and moreso every day. Don't think Fox News or General Electric or Murdoch are going to go out of business anytime soon...

Also, for the record I know absolutely nothing about the story you're referencing. I'm speaking in general terms.

How much are the top execs involved in the day to day operations of those newsrooms? I'm not talking about them, I'm talking about reporters and editors. A reporter who could break any of a number of these conspiracy stories would be looking at massive accolades. Pretty much every reporter to come out of journalism school for the last 30+ years has wanted to be Woodward or Bernstein, whichever one was played by Redford. That is what they were weaned on and what they aspire to. I just don't see them developing a big conspiracy story, being told by their editor to drop it, and happily complying.

I also don't know if you've noticed but pretty much every news organization has been either cutting back or folding entirely. Breaking a big conspiracy story pretty much guarantees that reporter a job for life while at the same time increases flagging circulation/viewership for their organization. Take Newsweek for example. They have been cutting staff like crazy and the whole magazine was recently sold for one dollar. Breaking a big conspiracy story wouldn't improve their situation?

Real reporters get warrants issued for their arrest through INTERPOL for having sex without condoms, jailed, threatened, etc. It is much more to their personal benefit to NOT report what they're told not to report.
