Go for the assault rifles. They'll be gone by the end of the year. Then scoop up the pistoles before they're next on the list.

Assault rifles are sold out pretty much everywhere, and a lot of places that still have them have already jacked the prices.
I already have a MAK-90 so I kinda have that covered anyway, and I'll be buying more rifles of various types. I just need a pistol that's relatively inexpensive to shoot just to keep my skills up.

I do think it's pretty certain that they're going to screw up the guns & ammo market. That's why so many people have been scrambling to stock up.
The economy might be down, but you wouldn't know it looking at gun sales in the last 3 months.

Not to get into too much of a deep political thingamajig, but Obama is coming into the office with a hellof a handicap. He's jumping into a massive mess that has some seriously deep roots. He's been saddled with the moniker of a man who represents change and is supposedly the polar opposite of the departing president. That all sounds wonderful in principle, but a change in figureheads isn't going to change shit in the time frame that the people who elected the man into office will be expecting. If he doesn't produce some miraculous turn around within the first hundred or so days in office, he's going to be facing the wrath of the population looking for a quick fix to a massive problem. All of this will come with him wrestling some of the power from entrenched republicans who are looking to hold on to every scrap of political sway that they can. It's an unenviable task for any man, let alone a politically inexperienced man with the added scrutiny of being the first black president. This man will be under the microscope of everyone looking for anything they can use to filet his character, undermine his ideas, and use as a scapegoat if things aren't noticably better very soon.

Well, I think Bush is ending up with the same kind of reputation that Hoover got for the Great Depression.
Was this actually *his* fault? Certainly not in totality, but since it happened "on his watch", he's the one that people are going to finger for it.
Obama is going to get his share of the shit sandwich too, you're right. I just hope he doesn't start passing quick fix legislation.
Fixing our current social and economic problems is going to be like mating elephants... done at a high level, not accomplished without a lot of screaming and roaring, and it'll take at least 2 years to see results.
