They insure just bikes...but its better if you have your car with them..or your home...or renters insurance.

I pay 550 a year for full coverage.

State Farm MUST be the way to go, had a buddy that had them, totalled his 04 R6, they paid for it, then he bought an 07 GSXR 750 and his insurance went DOWN! he totalled it too , i think it finally went up some after that

No, it has to be per agent/area. I was told to check SF by everyone, but that I would have to take everything. One day I got a flier in the mail for the agent in Wadsworth (versus Wooster, which is closer and where my friends go). So I called and they said I could take just my mc. So I switched. I made sure all the paperwork went through before canceling my other policy.

My husband couldn't believe it, so he called the Wooster agents and they said you have to take everything. We asked the Wadsworth agent and she said it was the underwriters choice.

At any rate, I've been with SF since 2004 and just motorcycle policy.

Not necessarily. They can't come close to matching the rates we pay with Erie on the cars and renters insurance, so for us it's cheaper the way we are right now.

I can't explain why it went down, but I do know that SF rates are based off the cc of the motorcycle rather than if it is a Ninja, GSXR, Rebel, etc like Progressive does. Erie, when they insured all bikes based theirs off the retail price of the bike. They still might, but they will not insure sportbikes and are pretty high on others. Of course, there are other factors that influence the rate too - credit score, etc.

I think it's best to check around and try different agents. Just because one says no, the other might. And like I said before, I've not a filed a claim so maybe at that point I'd have a hard time but who knows, maybe not.

Yea she's right! Heck, the cheapest insurance I ever had was with GMAC on my FZR1000 and my YZF1000... $138 per year full coverage!!! I'll never forgive myself for losing that policy!!!

I've called them twice...and each time they tell me I must have car or homeowners with them to insure a MC.
