Keep in mind who would be voting for this legislation.

The generation in power are the college students of the 60's. These folks are most likely to STILL be smoking pot (regardless of claims of "I didn't inhale.").

I don't drink & ride either but I think that we are in the minority. Ever notice if a bike night isn't at a bar it doesn't last very long?

I've ridden after smoking.

He didn't say "legalize". He said decriminalize it. Cheaper fines or something along those lines. Weed is too far gone from the government's reach to start selling/taxing it. I guess some people would bite and buy it, but others would just grow/buy cheaper (not necessarily less potent) weed with a bit more freedom.

Even that would be a refreshing change, don't you think?

As far as riding or driving while 'enhanced', I'd say no...
Anything that hurts your ability to react quickly and decisively to hazards in and around your path is not a good idea.
I won't make pious claims that I've never done it, but I'll admit that I'm lucky enough to have avoided the potential consequences of my past bad decisions.

Now, at home or when I don't need to drive, sure... spark that bitch up.

When I use to smoke (like a chimney) before I joined the AF, no matter what, I always drove the speed limit even if I didn't check to see what it was or the limit changed. I always found myself driving the exact limit. But mix booze with, forget it.

You're not alone. It actually can make you more attentive.

It certainly doesn't have the double-whammy of alcohol, which not only impairs you, but emboldens you.

Any of you guys smoked a whole spliff by yourself? That shit gets you WAY higher. Props to that guy. I smoked one on my way to my buddy's house before and I get there, walk into his room and within seconds he's like "You're high as fuck right now." Of course my huge grin gave it away. So we smoked more and played Gran Tourismo 2.

A lot of people and politicians have outdated perceptions of pot use and think of casual marijuana use as somehow completely different and sinister compared to alcohol.
When it comes to pot vs alcohol, pot is the better drug on every level. No hangover, no violent inconsolable rage, no driving 85 mph in school zones and the effect is more pleasant and non-addictive. It also doesn't fuck up your liver...or your lungs. That's right kids, lung cancer from pot smoking alone is an unrecorded event in medical history.
Unfortunately the alcohol companies know this and will fight with everything to keep their greatest competition from becoming legal. As will the pharmaceutical companies. A cheap, readily available anti-depressant for the masses? No thanks, we'd like you to talk to your doctor about our assortment of 5 dollar a pill brain fuzzers please.

Also- this would be admitting defeat and stupidity on the part of the federal government, something they don't do very often. The headache of freeing the thousands of people nationwide locked up for dope would be a clusterfuck for local governments. And what if someone had weed and a gun? You're going to have to go back to the judge or reconvene another jury to alter their sentence to deduct the drug charge, another time-consuming, giant headache.

The logistics of implementing legalization all at once are impossible. Most likely it would be decriminalization and then gradually moving towards legalization.
The medicinal properties of dope would quickly be forgotten if it were legalized... 95% of the battle driving medical marijuana is an effort to get it legalized for everyone.

I doubt a whole lot of people would fuck around growing it... at least, after it became more readily available. How many smokers do you know, who grow their own tobacco? How many drinkers do you know, who distill most of the alcohol they consume?

A fatty hog leg to the head was my preferred smoking method. Bowls are convenient, but taste like garbage... Bongs and steamrollers are most effective, but fucking kill your lungs/throat... while tasting like garbage... Blunts are only good if your weed SUCKS, cause I like to taste it otherwise... That leaves only a couple other options, the cheapest and easiest is a nice doobie.

For us its like... Rip it up and drag some knees all the way to the burning spot... then a nice, relaxed, leisurely ride home
