Yeh but you better load it onto a trailer before you drive through the gates of the DMV

Very true. Pennsylvania is such a pain the ass state when it comes to putting a vehicle back on the road. You have to document everything then hope and pray it goes through.

Totalled a bike in PA. Bought it back from the insurance company and sold it to a buddy in VA. They got a clean title in the mail.

My gsxr750 was totaled. Not just a salvage title, but a scrap title, meaning it could never be on the road again. Full set of plastics, full exhaust, new mirrors, front rim, rear sets ans passenger pegs. That's all and the total came to $9100 in damage.

My brother bought a salvaged GSXR about a month ago. He thought it would be super easy to get it re-titled. I advised against it. I should call him and see how that process is going.

Supposedly you can also wash a title through several states up north. However, if the bike is registered on say "carfax' for example, it can be found out if your state checks. We bought a used RC51 in ATL, brought it down to Florida, when we tried to register it, they checked carfax, it had been totalled, and retitled through a series of states to hide it, and the dealer never checked and sold us a lemon at regular retail. Needless to say, they took it back after hearing from my attorney.

Dead on with the salvaging due to costs to repair. If its too expensive, and most insurance companies dont have a good system for bikes, they'll total a perfectly good bike based on some plastic damage.

Florida wasn't going to give me the chance to buy back my bike when I crashed down there. luckily my insurance was through MO. while I was in school so MO. laws covered me. they said FL. just comes and picks them up.

Really...why?

I rode my bike to my MSF coarse so I could get my endorsement. Even though some did truck or trailer in theirs. I even rode it to the DMV to put in for my endorsement.

It's been my experience that the DMV doesn't give a shit. Don't get pulled over by the fuzz and you'll be fine.

Nope... nothing! But even a permit don't let you ride by yourself.
