Same with these things:

1993 Toyota Pick-Up - $3500 (Cartersville)

This one is reasonably priced compared to most I find.

Ya those 80-90's Toys hold their value or people are just crazy (both seller & buyer). I'd only give $3500 for that is if the drivetrain was rebuilt and it had a solid axle up front.

My father was on a business trip years ago and saw an old Toy pickup for sale. Pulled off to go see it and it needed a good amount of work take make it decent looking (maybe running too). My father thought it would have been a nice project for me and would be a nice addition to my Samurai. He called the number and they guy wanted $5k for it. My dad busted out laughing and the guy asked what my father was going to offer. When my dad said $800, the convo didn't last long after that.

I'm debating on selling my truck and getting a new one. I currently have a 04 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab 1/2 ton with 50K miles. The truck has been paid off for 2 years now, but I love the styling / power of whats on the market. Unfortunately, the 1/2 ton I want now, with the bigger motor, 4x4, crew cab, and up in the tech department is getting close to $50k. Even the trade in or resale on my truck will take a dent out of the price, I'm still looking at roughly $30-35K. So that's my dilema.

I figured trade in might get me $15K, private trade $18 but that is pushing it.

Which is over twice the MSRP of a new base-model F150.

You guys are getting ripped off by the option packages.

biggest hit is adding the crew cab. if you go with a reg cab, or even just the extended cab, you will save major bucks.

I guess it all boils down to the manufacturer knowing that people are forced to buy crew cab if they have a kid(s) and it's going to be their primary vehicle.

So much profit margin baked into these things. When I worked at Ford a few years ago they told me they made $18K off every Navigator built. And that's just from selling them to the dealership.

It also has to do with resale. A pre-owned regular cab isn't worth much of anything and an extended cab isn't much better. It doesn't help that they tend to come with the least desirable powertrain combinations and 2wd either.

My buddy bought a brand new 5.0 mustang in 1991. Cost him $14,200.
Now the cheapest mustang with a v8 costs $42000
