Ya, TMall and I grew up in a logging community. We also had a bus driver who cut his face open with a saw. Its probably one of the most dangerous tools in the world.

I guess if all you have ever used are old homelights and other small saws, you take it for granted. A Johnsered 625 Turbo or the like will slice you up into itsy, bitsy pieces quickly.

there was a guy around here about 2-3 years ago cutting up a tree in his yard and the chainsaw bounced back and sliced half his face off. Not pretty at all.

Any power saw will kick.... my friend's brother has an up close and personal encounter..... with his face.

It went down his cheek, thru his nose, and upper lip. Lucky for him it just microscopically glanced the bone.... because as it was, it took tons of surgury. But now you can barely even tell.

I grew up collecting old chainsaws as a hobby, Mac super 250's Stihl 038 AV MAG II's Jonsered 670 Champs, two man machines, the bigger they are the more damage they'll do if you're not skilled in controlling them, or dont have a chainbrake.

the chain brake is a standard feature now because saws used to kick back often and it became mandatory for chainsaws. I used mine all the time just when I put my saw down to move some logs or something.

The bigger and older saws without chain brakes and running a 30" bar can be REALLY mean if they kick back. and I mean MEAN.

Those of you who were around when the idea of a "small" chainsaw was a 50cc motor will know what I'm talking about. I love my 10-10 auto with the bow bar on it. THOSE things will kick for sure though.
