Very sad to hear.

Did this really need to be said in the article? "Motorcycle racers are more exposed to dangerous conditions than race car drivers because, although they wear protective gear, they don’t have a steel frame around them like in a car."

Who the hell writes this shit?

Condolences to the family, and I hope that the young guy who hit him doesn't get too messed up by it.

The boys stuck together all day. From when it happened - the flashing yellow to the red - the boys knew something wasn't right. They raced, not knowing Peter's status. That track is SO large, and from where it happened all they knew was there were two missing on the grid.

It was after the race the news broke through the paddock. The boys stayed together. Parents checked on them, but they were left together to deal with their emotions. It's gut wrenching - to not only lose a life, but to watch his friends go through the realization they are mortal.

They all signed his other set of leathers. They all spent time with his family and mechanics. Then, they all went off together to wander around MotoGP. The rule was, stay together. It was all so incredibly supportive for these young men. Safety in numbers... while they are fierce competitors, off the grid they are all really great friends. I'm so very proud of each and every one of them.

It is a horrible tragedy. My heart is broken.

RIP Peter.
