Statements in the article make it sound like St. Luke's records pertaining to the kidney aren't going to be released without their voluntary release from the estate of the donor or someone suing the estate of the donor for their release.

Crazy....

With no cause of death of the donor woman, perhaps she didn't die of cancer but had a uterine cancer at her death. Cancer might not have been her primary cause of death. But surgeons should recognize a diseased kidney unless there wasn't detectable, physical evidence of cancer.

But you gotta think they do blood tests for tumor markers or something before they harvest and donate a kidney. We pull off a tonne of blood when someone is going to be a donor. I can't remember what tests they do as the donor coordinator comes to over see everything to make sure nothing's screwed up with the prep.

Shame....

Kidney's usually do well it seems post transplant.

There arent realy any good tumor markers for uterine cancer that I could find but I would think they would still check some of the others. I still think theres some sort of coverup here.

That was interesting.. Makes sense too. Autopsies can take quite a while to be done and reports completed.

That is such horseshit!

That poor woman should be compensated in some form for what happened.
