Ya, cuz nobody ever drove into a house drunk. Or sober.

Reminds me of when tmall and I were getting all fucked up one day, passing around a couple of 40's of whiskey and a bunch of dope, and a guy from nearby stopped in for a drink.

"What you guys doing tonight?"
"Dunno, think i'm gonna get drunk, steal my mothers car, and roll it"

He kept his word. Epic! (for us, it left him mildly retarded)

I used to look down on stoners, and at the same time think it was cool to get drunk.....total hypocrisy. It's total bs that one is allowed, and the other not.

Hell, if the gov't really wanted to "protect" society, they would enforce a nicotine reduction in the cig industry. Nicotine levels have been "mysteriously" increasing over the years.

That's not quite true. It's just that it wasn't the weed that killed them. Remember that US government plan to wipe out the crops by spraying them with herbicide? The weed survived and the herbicide killed people. People have also died in car accidents while high on weed.

My only objection to legalization is that there are no valid medical testing methods to show that someone was impaired while driving. THC content in blood isn't like BAC for alcohol. Find a method of showing impairment and I'm all for it. It's not like people aren't already screwy on the wacky tobaccy while driving. Hell, I could smell it coming out of two cars I was driving behind, on my way home last night. I just figure that legalizing it will compound an existing problem.

You're correct... I was referring to the fact that the plant itself has never killed anyone.

As far as impairment - yes, no breathalyzer test would work, however a field sobriety test most certainly would.

The problem being that there is then no medical evidence of impairment, other than the officer's opinion. How many drunks have gotten off charges for the same reason?

There doesn't have to be.

Part of the reason for the change from DWI to DUI was the language.

"Under the influence" is a very vague term that can be applied to anything from alcohol to prescription drugs to sleep deprivation.

If you can't OBJECTIVELY prove intoxication, you can't guarantee conviction. Far too many drunks have gotten off using the same basic issue, and that's when a valid test actually exists. Such a test does not exist for THC.

You can't guarantee conviction even with objective proof.

My point was that there are other offenses that you can be charged with that don't have scientific testing methods available.

Keeping MJ illegal because of the DUI boogeyman is ridiculous.
