Very different.

In FL it's capped at $275/wk. which is $25 higher than it used to be.

My wife has been on unemployment for almost a year. She is receiving the max which is actually about the same is what she was making before she was laid off. She worked full time for a while and about 6 months before she was laid of they reduced her to part time(24hrs/week). Since the unemployment office goes back to what you were making about a year ago(I don't remember the exact amount of time) her unemployment rate is what she was making as a part time employee. She is looking for a job but why take anything that pays less than what she is making on unemployment?

She just went back to work a year or so ago after staying home with the kids for 9 years.

I've never drawn unemployment in my life and I've worked longer than most of you I'm sure BUT it could happen especially in today's economy.

Having said this...no I wouldn't take a job that paid less than what unemployment would pay...doesn't even make sense to me unless you have to do it for health benefits.

I hear you man and hate that it is happening to you.

I know I would HATE to have to look for a job these days. I don't even have a resume because I haven't had to look for a job in such a long time. Well I have changed positions through the years but within the same corporation.

Agreed. I would rather focus on finding a "good" job while collecting.

Sorry to hear so many folks are laid off and out of work. I count my blessings I still have a good job. ((knock wood))
