I can't see the video right now, but I'm sure its pretty crazy...

My mom and her boyfriend were at Yellowstone Park and they hit a deer going 50.
His bike was completely totalled but he was fine, and my mom broke her ankle because she was wearing sneakers...
Its insane how lucky people are...

GSXRs are by far the best bike to be on if you hit a deer.

The thing is, it's not that amazing really. If you do the math, from a physics stand point, if the rider does not panic and basically does nothing, he is almost certain to stay upright. In fact, the faster you are going, the more likely you are you to NOT hit the ground.

I can't find the video anymore, but this guy who used to ride with us hit one some years back.
His video was one of the first out there (before the YouTube boom) and was shot from a fairing-mounted camera.
I forget if he managed not to wreck, but he definitely did survive and enjoyed a small amount of online celebrity time for it.

Hey Troy... if I had ever hit a deer with my TLR, could I have labeled it a "1 Liter Buck Eater"?

I haven't seen him since the last of the Jo's nights or maybe it was Mozart's.
I think he lives down in SA, so he was never really a 'regular'.

I think a Goldwing would be better. You could hit a Buffalo and probably not feel it too much.

I fucking hate deer. I have yet to hear someone justify their existance other than "They are one of God's creatures" or "everything serves a purpose". Give me one postitive purpose of a deer?

I don't believe skills had much to do with him staying up. He was probably 100ft from impact before he had a chance to shit his pants.
