For over a decade of drinking this specific regional Zin from Ravenswood, its always been at least great if not outright fantastic. About a decade ago, I brought a bottle of this stuff to a blind tasting held by some friends who also happened to be in the wine distribution business here in Austin. They held the tastings to sharpen their own skills and to ensure they could identify the "best" wines. My lowly bottle of Ravenswood Lodi won the blind tasting against "heavy hitters" like Hendry's Block 7, at a fraction of the price per bottle. Try it, you'll like it!

My girlfriend and I just got back from a trip out to West Texas.
While out near Marfa, we stopped by a winery called Luz de Estrella and did a tasting with the owner. Their wine is unique in that they only use grapes grown on the premises or sourced from elsewhere in the Chihuahuan Desert region.
I could just tell you that they have some great reds (including a Merlot/Cab that was frickin amazing) but the real shining endorsement is that my girlfriend... who normally clings to sweet white wines... loved most of what we tasted. We came home with 5 bottles, and I still need to order a bottle of that Merlot/Cab.

I'll have to see if those labels you posted have made it down here. Spec's should have them if anyone does.

I'll drink red wine on occasion. I hate white wine. The problem for me is I can drink an entire bottle and not feel a buzz. If I'm going to drink something other than beer, make it a Long Island Iced Tea. Go big or stay home I always say.

My wife is a red wine lover for sure !! She loves that stuff. I don't even drink wine...just never really got into it.

Give me Wild Turkey 101 and some Sprite...or a Maker's Mark...or a 7 & 7...or...just give me a good cold beer !!

When out in the San Fran area recently we hit up this area. As mentioned...I don't really drink the stuff but it was pretty cool touring some of the vineyards.

I am a big Riesling fan. I like the sweeter whites. I keep trying to get into reds but the tannin taste is too much for me. I'm hoping I'll eventually find one I like.
