It's my understanding that they have not yet exported the attachments from the old database yet. the old version of the site stored the attachments in the database. The new version stores them as a list of files.

I bet as soon as they get this step completed, you can login to your gallery and remove them or at least edit them.

We might even be able to edit those old posts at that time too. Edit = remove picture link... not delete post.

WRONG. Stew/VS consider ALL submissions > 30 days their property, with rights to do with it as they please. They are quite adamant that they WILL NOT ALLOW you to remove ANY CONTENT whatsoever.
