That wasn't right either. I don't give a good goddamn about the Olympics, summer or winter, because it's about money instead of sport. The committee is corrupt, the athletes cheat, and many of them are professionals. It's a sham.

I agree. That's why the miracle on ice thing was awesome even to a Hockey Hater like me. It was amateurs against communist pros, probably cause it's USA too, but that doesn't count.

I think basketball is definitely a prime example of the suck of pros in the olympics.

However, the olympics were headed into the toilet without pros and they do get more ratings now that they have them there. I guess we won't get the amateurs ever again, which sucks.

Theres nothing stating olympic athletes have to amateur. Its just something 'purists' push as fact, but theres no truth to it.

There WAS. It used to be touted as, "The best of amateur sport." That's the problem with being old; you know how things used to be.

There were pro athletes competing before you were born... Your only in your forties.

Edit: Rules on amateur competitors were phased out ion 1970.

Doesn't seem like America started sending Pros til way after that though. Cause the dream team was like 92, I believe. Seems like a lot of it happened around the same time with pro ice skaters from America as well.
