Got big stuff that won't fit in the can? Call them and put on the curb - within 24hrs the city will send a truck to come get it. this can be done once a month for free. Anything after you get charged per occurrence.
One odd thing though, is that I put a plastic grocery bag in with the recycle stuff, and got a note saying that type of plastic isn't able to be recycled. WTF?

The local grocery store has started collecting them for recycling.
We use them around the house. but usually use the big canvas reusable bags instead.
