He said he uses the water that he removes from his tanks to keep his ponds going. So its not a total waste. He is also on well water.
But that is a lot of water and and a big ass tank. I always wanted a tank that covered most of a wall. He also said his electric bill is about $1200 a month. I believe his food cost were about $1400 a month. He has some fish that breed enough to keeps the predators going and lowers his food bills. I guess one of the few that reads after looking at the pretty pictures. James

I wonder how much that cost him to build, and what maintaining the thing costs..

That is certainly impressive. Can't imagine what people will think if/when he ends up selling the house!
I was surprised to see what looks like a slightly oversized pool filter running the show, tho... There's a guy in our area who has an in-ground pool converted into a habitat for gorgeous, literally world-class koi fish... his filtration system is approximately the size of a shipping container. Found a small webpage, but the picture doesn't do it justice... when we saw it the water was absolutely, perfectly clear- http://www.charlestonshowakoiclub.org/Grant.htm

I always wanted something like that when I was younger.. it's cool to see someone that actually went through with it.
