From my extensive research (I watched John Cusak die in "Fat Man and Little Boy" probably 10 years ago) we aren't that lucky and it is an extremely miserable existence for the few days a person has left.

Haha this.... but I was reading through Chirnobyl stuff last night and it seemed like the only people that died within days were the firefighters and cleanup crew that were on site for extended periods of time.
