Well it was a good run but after 6 years it was time to move on. Staying local but changing industries. Change is good right? I hate starting a new job but it will be a good move in the long run. Better pay, smaller company, better benefits.... longer commute... by a factor of 3. No biggie though, in the grand scheme of things 30 miles wont be that bad. It might get me back on the bike more(in good weather).

30 miles is nothing, i got a 37 mile drive and it ain't bad.

Congrats on the move.
Isn't auto kind of a scary industry (job security-wise) to be going into these days? You were in aviation prior, right?

Why take a bike in traffic in a state you cannot split lanes? Well I guess for the fuel econ.
