You may have some trouble with that as time goes on. As more and more new aircraft go to fly-by-wire it may shortly be the only option.

I know, and my avoidance of air travel has increased proportionately...as if the TSA and the airlines haven't already made it a totally unpleasant enough.
More reasons to stay home.

The '74 had manual steering? My '78 had power. Very strong power steering as a matter of fact. You could turn the steering wheel with your pinky even if the front wheels were buried in sand.
